Cream Gravy

Makes: about 1½ cups
Start to Finish: 10 minutes

¼cup butter
¼cup flour
1cup whole milk
 salt and pepper to taste

1.  Melt butter in pot over medium heat.  Add flour and stir constantly for 1 minute.  Add milk and cook 5 minutes, stirring constantly, until thickened.  Salt and pepper to taste. 

Per Serving (about ¼ cup): 179 cal., 17 g fat (10 g sat. fat), 45 mg chol., 208 mg sodium, 64 mg pot., 6 g carb., 2 g sugar, 0 g fiber, 2 g pro.

Cream Gravy – Reduced Calories Variation:

Prepare, bake and serve Cream Gravy recipe according to instructions, with the following alterations:

  • Replace ¼ cup butter with 2 tablespoons butter
  • Replace 1 cup milk with ½ cup milk + ½ cup water.

Note that reducing the butter amount will cause the flour to clump up when the milk mixture is added. Cook the gravy according to the original recipe, except whisk vigorously after adding the milk mixture until all flour clumps are incorporated.
